On a daily basis, the sweat glands produce sweat to regulate the body’s temperature to 37°. This is a classic sweating mechanism.
In the case of hyperhidrosis, the body conditions itself in excessive sweating to regain its usual temperature. The sweat glands then produce a large amount of sweat and the body sweats a lot.
Primary hyperhidrosis can follow a stressful situation and intense emotions. Dietary habits and the consumption of caffeine, alcohol or spicy food also modify the correct body temperature. Extreme heat and intense physical exercise are also responsible.
Advanced, so-called excessive sweating can be explained by many factors:
- A genetic predisposition
- Hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy or menopause
- Taking medications, such as antidepressants
- Certain illnesses , such as hyperthyroidism, Parkinson’s disease, HIV/AIDS
- A situation of overweight
